Privacy Policy

Scope

ParalleLane is a desktop Git client. It reads and writes repositories on your own machine and works without an account.

We do not receive the contents of your repositories, such as code, diffs, commit messages, branch names, remote URLs, or file paths. The app has no usage analytics or crash reporting.

This policy covers the ParalleLane desktop app, the parallelane.com website, and purchases.

What stays on your device

The following is stored only on your device and is not sent to us.

Deleting the app's data folder and removing its entries from your operating system's credential store deletes this data.

Git accounts

The display name, email address, username, avatar URL, and host of each account you add, in a local database inside the app data folder.

Access tokens, SSH keys, and your license key

In your operating system's credential store: Keychain on macOS, Credential Manager on Windows. They are never in the app database and never in plain text.

Repository and worktree state

Paths, layout, and cached commit graphs, in that same local database.

What leaves your machine

The app makes network requests in the following cases.

When you connect to a Git host such as GitHub or GitLab, ParalleLane talks directly to the service you chose, and that service's own privacy policy governs those requests. Your credentials stay in your operating system's credential store and never reach us.

Update check (macOS, Linux)

The app periodically asks releases.parallelane.com whether a newer version exists. The request carries no data about you, and you can turn it off in the app settings.

Update check (Windows)

The app is distributed through the Microsoft Store, which manages updates. The app makes no such request.

License activation and validation (Pro only)

When you enter a Pro license key, the app sends the key and your computer's hostname to Dodo Payments so the key can be bound to a device and the device limit enforced, and later confirms the license is still valid when the app starts. Basic does not send these requests.

Feedback

Sent only when you open the feedback dialog and submit it. The report carries what you wrote plus the app version, operating system, and plan; no repository paths or file contents are attached. It becomes a private issue in our tracker.

Payment, analytics, and feedback providers

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising. We rely on the providers below to run the service; how each handles data is described in its own privacy policy.

Beyond that, we disclose personal information only where the law requires it.

Dodo Payments

Handles checkout and licensing as the merchant of record. The payment and billing details you enter during checkout are processed under the Dodo Payments privacy policy, and we never receive your full card number.

Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics

Help us understand how the website is used. Neither runs inside the desktop app.

Cloudflare

Hosts the website and the feedback endpoint.

GitHub

Stores submitted feedback as private issues in our tracker.

Retention and security

We keep personal information only as long as the purpose it was collected for lasts, then delete it. Information held by the providers above is kept under their own retention policies.

Communication with external servers uses HTTPS. Access tokens, SSH keys, and license keys are kept in your operating system's credential store and are not sent to our servers.

Your choices and contact

You can change these in the app itself.

To see, correct, or delete personal information we hold, write to support@parallelane.com. For anything about a license or an order, include the license key or the email you bought with so we can find the right record.

Turn off update checks (macOS, Linux)

The app settings have an automatic update check toggle.

Deactivate a license

Deactivating from inside the app releases the activation for that device.

Remove an account

Deleting an account in the app removes its local record and its credentials from your operating system's credential store.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when the behaviour it describes changes, and the effective date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects what we collect or who receives it, we will say so in the release notes for the version that introduces it.
